CiC Foundation to Benefit from Huge 50/50
Drawing on Super Sunday
Online offering is first of its kind
HUNTINGTON, NY, January 18, 2007 - The
Companions in Courage Foundation was notified
today that the organization has been selected by
the Chance On Charity Charitable Association to
participate in the inaugural 50/50 Charitable
Drawing to be held on Super Sunday, February
4th.
The Chance on Charity Association and its
affiliates is the brainchild of Long Islander
George W. Benedict. The philanthropist was
looking for a unique way to benefit multiple
charities in their fundraising efforts.
Designated charities will encourage supporters
to register at the Chance On Charity website (www.ChanceOnCharity.org)
and make as little as a $10 donation to
participate in that week's drawing conducted by
a specialized operator. One winner will be
selected from all entrants and will receive half
of the proceeds donated during that period. That
period's designated charities will then receive
the remainder of the proceeds. The organization
is working to hit an international target of
200,000 entrants per week, which will generate a
winning millionaire and a windfall of $1 million
to the selected charities each week.
Pat LaFontaine said, "This is one of the most
creative ways I know of for patrons to benefit
their favorite charity and also have a chance to
win money themselves. We are honored and
grateful that CiC was selected as a beneficiary
from the inaugural drawing on Super Sunday."
Proceeds from this drawing will be used by the
CiC Foundation to continue its work with
children's hospitals. Other organizations
participating in the inaugural 50/50 drawing are
Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Long Island and
Hope House Ministries.
About the Companions in Courage Foundation
The Companions in Courage Foundation was founded
by NHL Hall-of-Famer Pat LaFontaine as a
response to the inspiration he derived while
visiting children in hospitals during his
15-year career. Our goal is to continue building
interactive rooms in children's hospitals
throughout North America. Through innovative
communications tools, these "Lion's Dens"
replace the isolation of a hospital with a
connection to family, friends and celebrities
during their hospital stay. For more
information, visit www.CiC16.org.
About the Chance on Charity Charitable
Association
Chance on Charity Charitable Association is a
not-for-profit association of charities formed
by its funding member, the Do Good Trust, a
Charitable Purpose Trust, based in Italy. The
organization is the brainchild of George
Benedict of Long Island, NY.
In a revolutionary approach to the challenge of
raising funds for charitable purposes, Chance on
Charity, has selected an operator, 50/50
Charitable Drawings, to benefit from a new
Internet service offering. The 50/50 drawings,
which benefit the member charities and their
winners, are conducted at regularly announced
dates. The drawings physically take place in
Malta, and are streamed over the Internet from
the operator's web site.
